Francesca Tinti

Francesca Tinti is Ikerbasque Research Professor in the Department of Philology and History of the University of the Basque Country.

She was awarded her first degree by the University of Bologna and her PhD by the University of Padua. Before joining EHU, she worked for several years at the Universities of Cambridge and Bologna.

Her research interests include early medieval religious, social and cultural history. She has published extensively on charters and cartularies, paying special attention to the interactions between Latin and vernaculars in the documentary practices of early medieval England and the eastern Frankish territories. More recently she has been investigating long-distance travel from early medieval Britain, drawing on a range of historical, literary and material sources.

She has directed several research projects, including The Digital Edition of the Becerro Galicano and The Languages of Early Medieval Charters.
